Michael Gallagher Featured in September 2026 ASHRAE Journal
Michael Gallagher, PE, Fellow ASHRAE and President Emeritus of Western Allied Corporation, was recently featured in the September 2026 issue of ASHRAE Journal with his Engineer’s Notebook column, “Copper Tube Basics for Engineers.”
The article addresses a knowledge gap that many engineers encounter early in their careers: traditional engineering education offers little in the way of field piping fundamentals, even though engineers are routinely expected to know this material on the job. Mike’s piece fills that gap, walking through copper piping and tubing specifically as it applies to HVAC systems.
ASHRAE Journal is the monthly publication of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the leading professional society for HVAC engineers. Mike has contributed to the Engineer’s Notebook column, a rotating feature written by engineers from firms around the world, one to two times per year for several years, sharing practical, field-tested insight with peers throughout the industry.
This latest piece reflects Mike’s continued commitment to advancing technical knowledge in the HVAC engineering field.
